Actions seek to expand the country's presence in one of the most important markets for the Brazilian furniture industry

Miami, the main U.S. gateway to South America, hosted in November the first edition of the Brazilian Furniture Vendor Project, developed in partnership with the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brazil).

Brazil was represented by nine companies that attended a series of business meetings with potential resellers and local distributors. On the occasion, they presented an extensive portfolio of products, including living rooms, bedrooms and children’s bedrooms, kitchens and home offices. The Brazilian trade mission relied on the participation of Carraro, Imcal, Lopas, Enele, Finestra, Germai, Lukaliam, Multimóvies and Unicasa.

Another action promoted by Brazilian Furniture in the U.S. market was the presence at HD Americas, one of the largest trade shows of design in the world, also held in Miami. The target of the event is the high standard corporate segment, especially 5 star hotels and boutique hotels. The Brazilian company Saccaro was awarded for the best booth of the show in the category “Large Display”.  According to Gustavo Luiz Scola, export manager of the company, this was the third time the company attended this event, which allowed a closer relationship with the Canadian hotel group Four Seasons, which has projects planned for the Latin American region.

In Boca Raton, Florida, Brazil was also presented at the Arc Interiors, with the promotion of business rounds with architecture firms and interior designers. The event is in its sixth edition and focuses on bringing together suppliers in the interior design industry and the most qualified specifiers, interior designers and architects from the U.S. through previously scheduled business meetings.

The U.S. market is undergoing a period of gradual, but steady improvement in its economic indicators, which generates a positive effect on the sales of Brazilian furniture. In the first half of this year, there was an increase of approximately 11.5% in exports to that country compared to the same period of the previous year, with an increase in the amount sold from US$ 36 million to US$ 40.2 million.

“The intention of the Project is not to close deals immediately, but to get back in touch with the main U.S. dealers. This is a market that requires a special attention to building a long-term relationship,” says João Araújo, manager of the Brazilian Furniture Project.
